Pre-Apprenticeship Programs:

Theory training is delivered face-to-face in conjunction with our online learning platform, College Cloud, in a classroom setting and will involve presentations, classroom discussions, breakout activities and role-plays. GCTC campus has fully equipped workshop spaces designed to simulate real-life work sites.

Practical training and assessment activities are conducted in the workshops and in the large campus courtyard.

The course is delivered face to face combining the classroom delivery and simulated work environments. Learners are required to engage in self-paced study conducted outside of scheduled training days to enable learners to deepen their understanding of the content and to prepare for training the following week.

Pre-Apprenticeship Programs:

The following entry requirements apply to ensure applicants are able to fully engage in the course and have the required learning capacity to meeting the course requirements.

Learners must:

• be committed to pursue a career in the construction industry
• be aged 15 years or over
• hold a minimum of a Year 10 School education (or equivalent)
• have a level of physical fitness to be able to handle tools, equipment and materials, work outside for long periods of time
• be able to commit to the course duration and time commitment (including extra course duration if required)

Study Pathways

This qualification provides a pathway into a wide range of Certificate III trade qualifications including Carpentry, Painting, Tiling, Plastering, Plumbing and Landscape Construction. The ideal pathway for our target learner is to gain a trade apprenticeship in the construction industry.

Employment Pathways

This qualification introduces the construction industry, its culture, occupations, job roles and workplace expectations to the student. The units of competency cover essential work health and safety requirements, the industrial and work organisation structure, communication skills, work planning, and basic use of tools and materials.

In addition to the ideal outcome of an apprenticeship in the construction industry, this program can assist graduates in gaining a wide range of entry level jobs in the construction, resources, landscaping and trade related industries. Further, all graduates will hold their Construction Industry Safety Induction (White Card) which will allow them to enter and work on construction sites.
