Vocational Education and Training (VET) is a learning pathway available for young people in senior secondary. VET provides students with the opportunity to engage in education and training which may lead to employment and/or further study.
Successful completion of VET provides students with nationally recognised qualifications that deliver the skills and knowledge required for specific industries and occupations.
Nationally recognised VET must be delivered by a registered training organisation (RTO) – that’s us!
VET qualifications can be undertaken in Years 10, 11 and 12 and may provide credit towards the Queensland Certificate of Education.

4 school terms ( 1 day per week, this includes 80 hours of vocational placement)
Theory training is delivered face-to-face in conjunction with our online learning platform, College Cloud, in a classroom setting and will involve presentations, classroom discussions, breakout activities and role-plays. GCTC campus has fully equipped workshop spaces designed to simulate real-life work sites. Practical training and assessment activities are conducted in the workshops and in the large campus courtyard.
The course is delivered over 4 school terms, one day per week, face to face combining the classroom delivery and simulated work environments. Learners are required to engage in self-paced study conducted outside of scheduled training days to enable learners to deepen their understanding of the content and to prepare for training the following week.

The following entry requirements apply to ensure applicants are able to fully engage in the course and have the required learning capacity to meeting the course requirements.
Learners must:
* $0 for eligible participants under Vocational Education in Schools (VETiS) funded by the Queensland Government.
(While in years 10, 11 or 12, students can complete one Certificate I or II level qualification funded by VET investment budget.)

This qualification provides a pathway into a wide range of plumbing pathways at a Certificate III level including Plumbing, Gasfitter and Roof Plumber. The ideal pathway for our target learner is to gain a trade apprenticeship in the plumbing industry.
This qualification introduces the plumbing industry, its culture, occupations, job roles and workplace expectations to the student. The units of competency cover work health and safety requirements, the industrial and work organisation structure, communication skills, work planning, and basic use of tools and materials. In addition to the ideal outcome of an apprenticeship in the plumbing industry, this program can assist graduates in gaining a wide range of entry level jobs in the Gasfitting or Roof Plumbing industries.
