Apprenticeships and Traineeship:

Let us support you through your Apprenticeship with our customised Apprenticeship Programs.

Earn while you learn! Completing an apprenticeship or traineeship involves paid on-the-job training, as well as formal study at a registered training organisation (RTO) like us. Effectively, an Australian Apprenticeship allows you to combine both work and study instead of having to choose one over the other, gaining valuable work experience whilst earning a wage and eventually leading to a nationally recognised qualification.

An apprenticeship is a training agreement between employer and apprentice, where the apprentice learns a skilled trade under the supervision of an experienced tradesman as well as getting a formal education from an RTO. These generally take between 2 and 4 years to complete if done full-time, though part-time options are also available.

A school-based apprenticeship or traineeship allows high school students to start an apprenticeship or complete a traineeship alongside their studies during their senior years of school. This is done part-time over one or two years so they can maintain their studies, though school-based apprentices are expected to continue full-time as an apprentice the January following their final exams.

Skill Recognition and Gap Training:

Gold Coast Trades College can evaluate your already obtained knowledge and work/industry experience, and based on these, you can be eligible to receive a nationally recognised qualification With the Recognition of Prior Learning program, you don’t need to study what you already know; instead you can fast-track toward gaining an accredited qualification.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Skills Recognition is an assessment process allowing individuals to achieve all, or part, of a Nationally Recognised Qualification by demonstrating their knowledge, skills and experience in a particular trade.

These courses are also offered as apprenticeships.

Generally, to complete a qualification via RPL, you provide evidence of experience and assessment materials to prove you meet industry requirements, develop your skills, enhance job opportunities and earn possible university credits.
