RII30815 Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations

Ready to be a plant operator?

Through this qualification you will develop your proficiency as a plant operator in the civil construction industry. You will be learn to apply a wide range of skills in a varied work context, provide theoretical advice and support a team. Skilled plant operators are in strong demand across Australia as private contractors, plant hirers, and skilled operators within local government councils, quarrying and mining, and other relevant resource industry sectors.


Skills covered in this qualification include:

  • Prepare machinery for the day’s operation
  • Identify and report on hazards related to plant and prepare work requirements
  • Identify underground services
  • Clean, lubricate and refuel machines
  • Perform minor repairs and adjustments when and as required
  • Apply and work within safety requirements while meeting environmental requirements as part of the operations
  • Work from drawings and specifications under direction from supervisors
  • Operate plant equipment and all attachments in varying construction environments
