Whether you’re still in high school or in the workforce, Gold Coast Trades College is flexible and will work with you, your employer and school to create a training program that suits your busy schedule.

Our school-based apprenticeship program allows you to jump start your concreting career, earn money and complete Year 12 all at once.

This qualification will provide you with skills and knowledge in a range of concreting competencies that will be customised to meet your training needs.

  • plan and organise work
  • use of concreting tools, equipment and materials
  • read and interpret plans
  • work effectively with others
  • conduct workplace communication
  • erect and dismantle formwork for footings and slabs
  • place concrete
  • finish concrete
  • cure concrete
  • place and fix reinforcement materials

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is available for experienced workers to gain a formal Certificate III in Concreting qualification.

Graduates will be trade qualified in Concreting and can progress onto Certificate IV qualifications such as Building and Construction, Project Management or Small Business Management.

The elective units must ensure the integrity of the AQF alignment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome and are to be chosen as follows:

  • a minimum of 3 elective units has to be specialist concreting units (coded ‘CO’) from the elective units listed below
  • the remaining elective units may be chosen from the elective units listed below or any Certificate III or Certificate IV qualifications in CPC08 or another current Training Package or accredited course.

Some units in this qualification may have prerequisite requirements, which must be met when packaging the qualification. Users are referred to the list of CPC08 units with prerequisite unit requirements available in this Training Package for this purpose.

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements for this qualification. Participants do however need intermediate language, literacy, numeracy and computer skills.
