Apprentice Advance+ Program

CSQ Funding

Apprentices and trainees can get *free career boosting training from 1 October. The Apprentice Advance+ program offers *free additional training to eligible apprentices and trainees to boost their skills and career prospects.

This program covers the training costs for eligible apprentices and trainees to:

  • undertake key training to complement the skills they are developing, and
  • access higher level training and short courses for 12 months after they have completed their apprenticeship or traineeship.

This targeted support will help apprentices and trainees to:

  • gain licenses essential to their future work that fall outside of their apprenticeship or traineeship training
  • be competitive in the market by broadening their skill set
  • transition from apprentice to tradesperson, licensee and business owner.

* Free means that CSQ will cover the full cost of training (as set by CSQ) so that eligible participants do not pay training fees. NB. participants may incur related costs to undertake training such as uniforms and equipment, travel and /or accommodation costs to attend training, text books and other study materials, and parking or transport costs (to attend training).

This course is for you if you’re:

  • A current apprentice or trainee or are in the first year following completion of your apprenticeship/traineeship
  • Seeking to increase your skills
  • Have perhaps been asked by you boss to complete additional training

Eligible participants under this program:

  1. must be:
      • an Australian or New Zealand citizen; or
      • a permanent resident of Australia; or
      • a holder of a refugee or humanitarian visa
  2. and must:
      • permanently reside in Queensland; or
      • be permanently employed in Queensland
  3. and must be:
      • a current active apprentice or trainee in Queensland as defined in the Further Education and Training Act 2014 undertaking a CSQ approved apprenticeships or traineeship; or
      • an existing worker or unemployed eligible worker in the first year out of their CSQ approved apprenticeship or traineeship who must commence training within 365 days of the completion date in DELTA; or
      • a cancelled apprentice or trainee who was undertaking a CSQ approved apprenticeship or traineeship that has been cancelled and they are currently accessing State Government funding to complete their institution-based training
  4. and must not be:
      • an employee of any Authority (excluding employees of an Indigenous Council that is a Principal Contractor); or
      • a contracted trainer and assessor or existing worker of an RTO; or
      • already funded by an Authority or other such source for delivery of the same training being undertaken as part of this program.
