UEE22025 Certificate II in Electrotechnology (Career Start)

This qualification provides students with an entry-level foundation for a career in the electrical and electrotechnology industries. Learners will develop:

  • Workplace Safety & Industry Awareness
    • Apply WHS regulations, codes and practices in the workplace
    • White Card training: Prepare to work safely in the construction industry
    • Safe work practices in energy sector environments
  • Electrical & Electrotechnology Fundamentals
    • Solve problems in single path electrical circuits
    • Provide solutions and reports on routine electrotechnology problems
    • Use routine equipment, plant and technologies in an energy sector environment
    • Identify and select components, accessories and materials for energy sector work activities
    • Fabricate, assemble and dismantle utilities industry components
    • Fix and secure electrotechnology equipment
  • Energy Efficiency & Sustainability
    • Apply environmentally sustainable procedures in the energy sector
    • Provide basic sustainable energy solutions for residential premises
  • Workplace Skills
    • Carry out preparatory energy sector work activities
    • Conduct routine work in an energy sector environment

This hands-on training introduces students to the tools, systems, and practices used in the electrotechnology industry, giving them realistic pre-apprenticeship experience.

Course Overview

This UEE22020 Certificate II in Electrotechnology (Career Start) qualification provides students with an entry-level foundation for a career in the electrical and electrotechnology industries.

Duration: Typically one day per week for 3 school terms
Delivery:  Structured training at our fully equipped workshops and campus

Pathways

Career Outcomes

This qualification is a pre-apprenticeship pathway into the electrical and electrotechnology trades. While it does not allow a person to work as an electrician, it provides valuable knowledge and experience to support:

  • Entry into an Electrical Apprenticeship
  • Trade assistant roles in the energy sector
  • Pathways into careers in renewable energy, telecommunications, or instrumentation (with further training)

Study Pathways

Graduates of this course can:

  • Progress directly into a Certificate III Electrotechnology Electrician apprenticeship (UEE30820), the nationally recognised trade qualification for electricians.
  • Continue into higher-level qualifications in electrotechnology, data and communications, or renewable energy systems.
  • Build towards future careers in electrical engineering or energy management with further tertiary study.

The following entry requirements apply to ensure applicants are able to fully engage in the course and have the required learning capacity to meeting the course requirements.

Learners must:

  • be currently enrolled in a QLD high school in year 10,11 or 12
  • meet the LLN requirements for the course
  • have a level of physical fitness to be able to handle construction tools, equipment and materials, work outside for long periods of time and climb ladders and scaffolding
  • be able to commit to the course duration and time commitment (including self paced study and homework)

Application for enrolment is subject to a review process that includes assessment against the VETiS Eligibility Criteria, course-specific LLN requirements and a review of student academic reports, behavioural history and absentee levels. Students, their parents, and/or their School or Educational Institution may be contacted for clarification, or to request further information during the review process. Enrolments will not proceed without the support of the School or Educational Institution.
